Gürtel chief released on reduced bail of 100,000 euros

Pablo Crespo had already spent three years behind bars

Pablo Crespo, the suspected number two in the Gürtel corruption network, was due to leave prison on Wednesday after posting bail.

Crespo, a former secretary of the Galician Popular Party, paid a reduced 100,000-euro bail, after spending three

years in jail, via two national bank transfers of 35,000 and 15,000 euros, and an international transfer of 50,000 euros.

He has been ordered to report to the High Court every Monday and Friday and has surrendered his passport. Bail had originally been set at 600,000 euros.
