SGAE board cedes ground to opposition on vote
Authors' rights body agrees to PP call for consensus on number of new members
Members of Spain's General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) held a heated extraordinary meeting on Tuesday to name members of a new electoral committee for the fraud-tarnished organization.
Amid cries of "crooks," the management board ceded to demands from the opposition that the increase in the number of members of the electoral commission from 10 to 15 be subject to a vote.
José Miguel Fernández Sastrón, spokesman for the candidacy defeated in the previous SGAE board elections, said that "if anyone has any doubt that the elections were fixed it's because they want to." Members of the copyright management organization's previous management board have been arrested for alleged embezzlement.
