Spanish effects firm reveals the secrets behind ‘Game of Thrones’

El Ranchito is the company responsible for the digital trickery in seasons five and six

Some of the special effects from season five of Game of Thrones.

A Spanish studio based in Madrid was responsible for creating the visual effects for the two seasons of Game of Thrones that have been partly filmed in Spain. The eighth episode of season five of the hit HBO show left fans with one of the most extraordinary battle sequences. Viewers were witness to the fight between the White Walkers and the Wildlings, the latter of which had been brought together by our hero Jon Snow. But few know that the post-production work on the scene was created by El Ranchito, which is also behind the tsunami wave on The Impossible and the chase scenes in Spanish production El Niño (The Boy).
