Tousle-haired Irish comedian Dylan Moran will be bringing his brand of grumpily philosophical stand-up to Spain next week.

The star of TV sitcom Black Books will be playing dates in Málaga, Madrid and Barcelona on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively, as part of his Off the Hook tour, which has already taken him to the likes of Kiev, Kazakhstan and Moscow, as well as St Petersburg, where he became the first western comic to perform in the city.

The critically lauded show is the 44-year-old stand-up and actor’s first in four years. Once named “the greatest comedian, living or dead” by France’s Le Monde newspaper, Moran was, at 24, the youngest ever winner of the Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1996.

His film work includes roles in Shaun of the Dead (2004) and last year’s Irish black comedy Calvary, in which he co-starred alongside Brendan Gleeson and Chris O’Dowd.

Tickets to each of the three shows cost €21 and are available via the Festival Internacional de Comedia website.

Dylan Moran. December 2 at La Cochera Cabaret, Av. de los Guindos, 19, Málaga. December 3 at Moss Madrid, C/Atocha 125, Madrid. December 4 at Sala Apolo, Carrer Nou de la Rambla, 113, Barcelona. Tickets: €21. www.festivaldecomedia.com
