Third gauntlet run in a week sees 68 immigrants reach Spanish shore

Sub-Saharan men ganging up in groups of up to 100 to overpower Moroccan police before swimming across border

In a new operation, 68 sub-Saharan immigrants, including the man pictured above, reached Spain from Morocco on Monday by overwhelming security forces by sheer numbers and swimming the final stretch of their journey to the enclave of Ceuta.

Last Wednesday 45 immigrants succeeded in the same manner and on Friday 60 more were thwarted. The plan is the same each time: men in groups of up to 100 run the gauntlet of the Gendarmerie in Morocco before they dive into the sea and swim toward Europe.
