15-M manifesto now in Zapatero's hands

A group of five activists from the 15-M movement on Wednesday managed to circumvent a police cordon around Congress to deliver a 17-page set of proposals to a United Left deputy, who delivered the manifesto to party spokesman Gaspar Llamazares, who in turn promised he would deliver it to Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

The five hoodwinked the security blockade, which was under order to turn back protesters, by attiring themselves in suits and formal dresses. The document was delivered to the Congress registry, where it was officially stamped. "What we wanted was to bring the voice of the people," said Borena, who delivered the papers and had walked from Barcelona to Madrid. "The job is done, now we can go home."

Seven protestors and four police were injured as a group of protestors was dispersed in Paseo del Prado, near Congress.
