Mallorca hiker finds remains of British woman missing since 2007
Jacqueline Tennant, a passionate mountain walker, had worked at a hotel on the island
Human bones found by a hiker on the island of Mallorca belong to British citizen Jacqueline Tennant, who went missing in October 2007 at the age of 45, the Civil Guard has confirmed.
Tennant, who worked as an entertainments manager at a hotel in the north of Mallorca, disappeared after going on a hiking trip in the Tramuntana mountains.
The hiker who found the bones also discovered a backpack in a hard-to-reach spot between the municipalities of Lluc and Pollença. Civil Guard officers reached the site and took away the remains for inspection.
The investigation into Tennant’s disappearance had remained open for the past few years, and her family flew to the Balearic island on several occasions to follow up on the case. Authorities’ main working hypothesis was that Tennant, a passionate mountain walker, had suffered an accident.

As part of the initial investigation, Scotland Yard interrogated Tennant’s boss, a British entrepreneur who was the last person to talk to her. But his testimony ruled him out as a suspect in the case, local newspaper Diario de Mallorca reported.
While the final results of the autopsy are not yet available, the preliminary report confirms that Tennant was involved in an accident, said the Civil Guard.
