José Mourinho to leave Real at end of season
Portuguese coach departs after three seasons with one Liga title and a King’s Cup
As was widely anticipated, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez announced at a press conference Monday that the club and controversial head coach José Mourinho will part company at the end of the season.
The Portuguese provocateur has left few in Spain indifferent during his time in Madrid, during which he has accused soccer’s continental governing body of bias against Real, divided the Bernabéu, ostracized team captain Iker Casillas and gouged the eye of Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova.
In three seasons, Mourinho delivered just two significant titles: a league and the King’s Cup.
